May. 12th, 2012 @ 07:46 pm 5-12-12: The outside world beckoned.
Feeling: bouncybouncy
Strains of Music: Freelance Astronauts - Wii Sports Resort (Swordplay)
First and foremost: Mr. Whedon, I now forgive you for Alien: Resurrection (which disappointed me enough I didn't want to see anything else you made for a long, LONG time afterwards.) Your Avengers movie was amazing. That said - Mmmmm, Scarlett Johanssen in black leather... <3

Today was a pretty fun day. I got out and voted for the city election (Killeen! Where the entire city council got recalled because they were doing an abysmal job.) Then we saw Avengers, and went to a Martial Arts Break-a-thon (with all proceeds going to charities) run by a married couple I've known for about 5 years now. After we enjoyed that for a while (I ended up spending the day in my mother's company, which is good because she has to work tomorrow) we browsed around the mall and I found a couple of nice gifts for an upcoming birthday. Even scored a $40 shirt for $18 at Sears (I tend to wear pocket tees and button shirts for a "layering" effect.) Today - was a good day. :D

My plans for the summer:
- Finish going through my bins of doom from the backyard, and consolidate down to about a room and a half's worth of stuff (the "half" being the things that will go into a small storage space, as need be.)
- Make major headway on my backlog of video games (I've got DS, PSP, PS2, Wii, PS3, and PC games I've delayed playing for well over a year now.) Sadly, four of these games are the most recent Pokemon titles (HG/SS are at least mostly done, I just need to finish the PokeDex now. I have all the Pokemon I need ((yes, I cheaty-faced my way into all of those. shaddup, I only have so much time to spend)), I just need to finish all the evolving) so I expect to be spending quite a bit of time on the DS...
- Get my A+ certification.
- Pay off a bit of my student loan.
- Get my car fixed a bit.
- Replace my car's stereo.
- Be ready for the Fall semester, since part of it is going to include a couple of classes at Central Texas College, as well as two TAMUCT courses. Yes, I'm going for full-time.
- Get a part-time job that pays just enough to save up, pay off the earlier-mentioned loan somewhat, and save up to leave Texas finally.
yay!

Strains of Music: Freelance Astronauts - Majora's Mask LP 9-1
Today I took my A+ certification exam for the second time - and did worse on it, despite having had more sleep and having studied more. Of course, now that I've taken it, I only now find the "Objective Map" that goes along with the exam, set in the back of the book. And that book... cripes, I could probably kill a man with it. I would just have to use it as a bludgeon, and that would be that. So now I can't do the retake for for two weeks, which is fine by me, as I don't have $178 to keep spending and spending in rapid succession. So when I'm not working on classes (which are going just fine, thankee), from now until sometime this summer, I'll be slowly studying this book.

In other news:
- Picked up a copy of Final Fantasy IV: Complete for my PSP last Saturday. I'm now up to the last dungeon/the "new" stuff that was added for the Game Boy Advance version (read: the new dungeon that was an excuse to put the other five party members into your party, despite that they've long since been outstripped by Cecil, Rosa, Rydia, Edge, and Kain. Oh, Squenix, you scamps. =P)
- I found two rubbermaid bins full of books. So now I've got my bookcase overflowing with reading material. A good 136 old friends that I've missed greatly. I might sit down with the netbook and catalog them for sharing here, sometime. ^^ I might even post a picture eventually. No "before" shot though, that'd take too long to de-nude the shelves again.
- I now have two IdolMaster figures on the top section of my (rolltop) desk. I could probably get around to sharing pictures of those sometime, if anyone else is interested (it's rare that I go to the expense of more than about $20-ish for a figure, so these two are pretty awesome and well worth a look.)
- After some massive cheating (and some *insane* trading. four. full. boxes worth. over to my SoulSilver from my HeartGold, since the codes only worked for HG), I'm on my way to filling out the Pokedex for both of those games I just mentioned. That'll be pretty nice, actually, a Pokemon game where I've managed to finish the 'dex for once. >.>;;

So anyway, I'll see about being more profound and interesting the next time around. XD

In the mean time, enjoy a kitty.

Mar. 3rd, 2012 @ 07:13 pm A brief lesson in How to Nearly be Dead.
Feeling: indescribable
Good and bad, here. The good just barely outweighs the bad.

Good: I made it to Houston and am now in line to get my book signed by Amber Benson (I'm #43, currently at the end of the line.) My sanity is more-or-less intact, and my mood will probably improve enough to really smile properly by the time it's my turn.

Bad: The people in Houston drive like freaking maniacs. I nearly got killed on the way in. Twice. Both times by complete jackasses that didn't signal and just *shoved* their way into the lane (as I was starting to move into that space, of course.) So I'm going to just sit here in the corner and shudder for a while, as the shock works its way through my system.

Edit to add: Amber is the most awesome person EVER. She gave me a box of Thin Mints for my trip back! <3 (which is good, since the cash I do have has to go into my poor tank.)

Feb. 29th, 2012 @ 05:44 pm Schedule slip: unintentional.
Feeling: nauseated
I meant to do three more entries on Battletech, but class work (and getting sick a couple days ago) kind of got in the way of that. So I'll see about putting those up in one big post, possibly tomorrow or the next day. Like too many people read this anymore, anyway. XD

As I type this, I'm in class, waiting for the review to end, so I can go home and get more rest. I have not felt good the last couple days. I think that's generally what happens when one's stomach won't take too much into it, and one's head is kind of light a good portion of the time. Woo, dizzy. 9_6

So. BORED. Also wish to be home so I can finish my management portfolio (aiming for having it done before next week is out) and having the healing power of things to laugh at being on in the background.

Feeling: sleepysleepy
Strains of Music: The rain on the roof
I finished the Battletech novel, Operation Audacity yesterday - and found myself a bit longing. Longing for more adventures with Leftenant General Adam Steiner. Longing for the days of my youth, when I watched a short-lived yet interesting show called Battletech (of course), which told the story of Adam's fight against the invasion by the Clans in the year 3050.

In fact, a bit of backstory, before I sleep.

Feb. 17th, 2012 @ 04:44 pm Subject? Subject is bored. Chairman of the bored.
Feeling: accomplishedaccomplished
Strains of Music: Billy Joel - The Piano Man
So my day has consisted of studying, breaks for Black Lagoon (not a bad show, shame the female lead's sociopathy is a tad offputting), and back to more studying. Finishing the chapter will put me at Ahead again, at which point the rest of today and all of tomorrow will be spent on doing all I possibly can of the assignments for this class*. Oh, with small breaks to work on the portfolio for my management class interspersed throughout the day. Yay, I am exciting... (read: boring at the present. =P) I'll also be breaking for Majora's Mask and exercise, as I'm running through BL at a pretty fair clip. I've already watched half of it (read, had it on and sort-of-watched while I was going through my textbook) and I only started it sometime last night.

And now, shower to feel more human again, and some Chow Mein! (mmmm, good food... *drool*)

*I like the teacher just fine. I like the subject just fine. I don't much mind being handed essay questions for assignments, but to have him change the syllabus three weeks in and add another couple essay questions, and then finally assign the "case" project questions? -_- Nuh-uh. Attendance is optional and tests are done online. Which reminds me, the quizzes for chapters 1 and 2 are supposed to be done this week. Aaaand take a guess what's not up on the Blackboard (read: online assignment/project system) for me to take care of, of course. *pinching bridge of nose* Yeah, I want as much of this headache that it promises to be done as soon as possible. And yes, that sentence got a little away from me...

Feb. 16th, 2012 @ 01:21 am Ugh ugh ugh.
Feeling: stressedstressed
Two nights in a row, now, of sleep that's been punctuated by some pretty fell dreams. Vampire hunting (and then waking up to the certainty that there's one in the room), being relentlessly pursued by some unspeakable evil, being a Green Lantern smack in the middle of a zone full of Red Lanterns and Sinestro Corps, and my ring down to about 5% charge left, and a few I can't even remember properly. I just know they made me wake up with the sheets twisted around me and my heart pounding with fear. To whatever deity I've angered, I apologize already, okay? Please, just let me sleep in a little peace now, huh?

I am sad for my countrymen and classmates, as I sit in my class for Principles of Management. Somehow, many of them are possessed of the notion that just about all Canada apparently produces is beer, and logging-related items. I would headdesk hard enough to knock myself out, if it wouldn't make it obvious I'm not paying much attention. x.X *is ahead on notes by about two weeks at this point*

Feb. 12th, 2012 @ 11:06 am R.I.P.
Feeling: awakeawake
Today, after having it for a good 15 years, I bid adieu to my Middle Earth Role Playing second edition sourcebook. Sadly, it was in one of the bins that had a cracked lid, and not even the clothing it was just underneath protected it from getting ruined by the weather. I do wish that I had managed to get some games going with it, but I wasn't that creative at some points, so that might have been for the best. Oh, but I did enjoy just imagining the scenarios I could have come up with, just from the information provided. Pity that the system was a little clunky...

Oh, and a singer died last night, too. I think in the coming days, I will feel sorry for her family. Wasn't it bad enough they probably had to watch her slide into this for who knows how long? Because now they're going to have to watch and listen to people blast her and tear her public image apart, when they can't just let them mourn in peace. Sometimes, I love our freedom, but despise the uses people put it to in this nation. =\

Also, I look forward to upgrading my account to paid again, because I miss having more than 6 user-pictures. ;_;

Edit to add: Also also, as I sit here with my blanket, I do wish I had a snuggie. Too. COLD. x.x

Feb. 2nd, 2012 @ 08:35 pm Wow, has it really been almost two months? Whoops.
Feeling: bouncybouncy
Sure didn't mean to leave it so long between updates.

So let's see, my December - (and no, that's not a Linkin Park joke I just accidentally made. So there. =P)
- Gave my mom the last three Harry Potter dvds, and a Lego Hogwarts Express. She's currently got it on the table, working on the last two big sections (yeah, it took her a little while to get around to it.)
- Gave Jessica a few things I know she quite enjoyed (especially the book - it's kind of funny that she told me about it, then forgot she told me about it. Made it more fun for me when she opened it up =D.)
- Got a new desktop for myself (my mother is awesome!) as my last one, while still working pretty well, was a good 5 years old at this point. So it's currently sitting in the closet, and will eventually see some sorts of use, as soon as I get the room for it. My only sadness for the new machine? I'll have to buy a new graphics card for it next month or so. It's good enough for Diablo II, but not for III. Which makes me sad, because my system speed and RAM are more than enough to run it. :(
- I've started to toss away even more stuff that I own, instead of thinking "Well I might want it some day in the next year or two." So, I'm going to be making a log of the action figure type stuff that I'm not keeping, so anyone who wants, can make a "bid" for 'em. (Mind, I'm not saying "gimme money", unless it's in amazing condition. With how I'm pretty sure most of such things are going to be, the "bid" is just more of a "hey, I'd like to have that" than a "I'll pay you for that.")

January
- Now that I think of it, the only thing truly of note from last month was that I've been looking for jobs a lot harder than I was before. Oh, and classes started (and I'm already working hard on getting ahead - I'm having no repeats of any previous semesters.)
- Oh, and I took my first A+ certification exam. Didn't pass it - but I only missed it by 4 questions. I'll be taking it again later this month, and this time I WILL pass. I want to be able to get a job that's more than just a glorified call center position. =P
- And I now have myself a web camera and headset for the new computer. So I guess I can chat with people a tad more often (if you wanna see my ugly mug, that is XD)
